Well.. yesterday, or the day before that, the 3rd of December was my 21st birthday - yeeeeeeeeeeeey - Which I spent at work, doing, well... nothing, just working - boo hoo hoo - Anyway, I thought I would post one of my favouite songs, by a band that I really like, The B.E.P, or The black eyed peas; to the musically-challenged people out there! :P

Baghdad International School

A couple of days ago an old friend added me on Facebook, a guy I knew about 15 years ago, or even more, he's a classmate from 1st grade, back when I was in Baghdad International School in Iraq.

It's really nice to talk to people from your past, It's refreshing yet a bit depressing. We started talking, and, akeed, we started talking about the school... I knew that it was destroyed during the war, but the guy gave me a link to a website that has photos of the school, and I must say, it was heart-braking, so sad, especially that this school was the best school I have ever attended.. it was perfect, and it's a big part of my current personality.

I went to this school from 92 to 96, kg - 3rd grade, but it had such an influence on me, it had so many facilities and activities, it was THE PERFECT LEARNING CENTER for me, I loved that school and I still do.

It's really sad and painful to see the place where you had your childhood memories destroyed!

That's basically all I wanted to say, childhood is great, and the school days will most probably be the best days of a person's life, eveyone should try to enjoy them to the max, and savour every moment of it.

Jordanian Photographic Society

Yesterday I went to the Jordanian Photographic Society, It was an amazing experience.. The people there were very helpful and passionate about photography, they were very friendly; giving constructive critique to the beginners, and even professionals asking for critique about their own photographs.
One of the most exciting things was that I met the most well known Jordanian photographer Zohrab.. a very helpful, really nice, down-to-earth person.

The "Society" has all kinds of members, Amateur photogaphers, professional photographers who earn their living from photography such as photojournalists and studio owners, housewives, doctors.. etc. sharing their stories and experiences, and talking about different techniques and ways they use to improve themselves and their photography, which will in return help you become a better photographer.

If you like photography, and if you're passionate about it, I would suggest you pay JPS a visit, you will learn a lot, you'll get to meet people that you share the same interests with and you'll have loads of fun.

In the past couple of days I've done so many things, the two most important things were:

1) I finished reading the most amazing book called "Sophie's World" by Jostein Gaarder; the amazing trip in philosophy and its history, through a story of a little girl called Sophie, and her adventures with a "True" philosopher, who teaches her (and you) how to think, and how to become a philosopher herself.

The book tries to simplify everything through easy-to-comprihend examples, and tries to cover the most important movements of philosophy, and sometimes the minor ones.

This is a book that, I think, everyone should read, because it helped me so much, by explaining so many things, and motivating me to think without

boundaries, and has helped me to set my own philosophy of life, culture, nature, and everything around me.

Now I'm reading Eleven Minutes by Paulo Coelho

2) I finally got the chance to go to Darat Al-Tasweer, run by the amazing and very helpful Linda Al-Khouri, this place is an amazing place where you can go and learn the art of photography, it has a Studio, Dark Room, Lecture hall, Photography Books and Magazines.. and a really nice ambient

Next week, a new beginners group-photogaphy-course is gonna start, teaching you the basics and techniques in photographythough lectures and practical classes in the studio, but unfortunately, I can't attend that course, but will join one as soon as I can.

Al-Daraweesh released

Jordanian Arabic Rock band "Jadal" have released their song "Al-Daraweesh" a few days ago, which can be downloaded here: Al-Daraweesh - Jadal

Downloaded the song, listened to it, and... NOTHING, I'm sorry JadaL your style is just too repetitive, and too commercial for my taste, ma3 inno, I love the song Salma, bas come on.. be more creative.

Jadal is one of the most well-known Jordanian bands in Jordan - I don't know if they are outside Jordan, though - they hit it off with the cover song "Al-Tobah" by the great Abdel-Halim Hafez.

Anyway, I said what I wanted to say, not ma thangggg :P If you're into mainstream and commercial music this is a song you would really like! :D

Well.. I don't mean to change this into a music blog, but some stuff I had to talk about, and this is one of them, Björk, a nice voice and the amount of feelings and personality she puts into her songs make her one of my favorite.

Anyway, Björk, has recently released her latest single titled "Náttúra", unfortunately it's not in English, nor is it in Arabic, so i couldn't understand a word she says, but I love the experimental music and singing she uses... one hell of an artist.

Nouvelle Vague - Dance with me

I've mentioned this band in a previous post called "The band of the French cinema". This song is from the band's second Album titled "Bande à part".

Here's what's exciting about this album, at least to me; the band is called Nouvelle Vague ("New Wave"), a French-cinema movement from the 1950's or 60's. The Album name is Bande à part - meansing; "to do something apart from the group" - which is a movie that belongs to that movement... and the video clip of this song is a scene from that movie, Bande à part... simply BRILLIANT, no wonder I LOVE this band, other than the fact that play really nice music. xD

Oh, one thing, though.. the song doesn't actually have a video clip, I think, it was probably done by a fan or something... I THINK!

A french "COVER" project called Nouvelle Vague, which means "New Wave" in French, or Bossa Nova in Portuguese, A very creative word that describes their style, where they take old New wave (and Punk) songs, play them in a new style called Bossa Nova, which I don't really understand what it is, exactly, yet, except that it has some Jazz techniques, which I LOVE!

Nouvelle Vague's "permanent" members are Marc Collin & Olivier Libaux, the founders, and instrument players, as for the vocals they use new voices (almost) every time.

When Most people hear the word "Cover Band" They think: "Nah, not worth it, cover bands are silly, and are not good-enough musicians to make their own songs." Well, I have one thing to say to such people.. YOU'RE WRONG! To understand what I'm talking about, you must listen to their music.

N V have covered so many bands from Tuxedomoon & Blondie to XTC, and they did it AMAZINGLY!Very nice tunes, amazing music... I can't stop listening to them.

Pulp, Rock Fever & Broken Bastards@Jara

First of all, I'm gonna start with this month's issue of Pulp magazine, which has a Music CD of 10 of Jordan's Indie/ Alternative artists and bands, and interviews with each of these artists!

I would recommend this month's issue to anyone interested in this kind of music, or anyone who what's to know a bit more about Jordan's musical/alternative scene.

Anyway.. yesterday I went to "Rock Fever" which is a concert that was held in Mohtaraf Remal, in Jabal Weibdeh (I GUESS). Three bands were playing; Symphovania, Rockage (Previously known as "Under Construction") and Plain Steel!

The concert was nice, although I didn't go in, I stayed at the ticket stand, but it was fun!

They had some sound system problems, the volume was too high, the instruments' volume was unbalanced, I mean... um some instruments were higher than others when they were supposed to be at the same volume or less, and Symphovania had a small problem with the vocalist's sound volume at the beginning.

After Symphovania came Rockage, they weren't THAT bad but they were bad, I mean... there was a small improvement from their last concert!

Things I didn't like about Rockage:
1) BAD VOCALIST, REALLY BAD.
2)Same problem like the last concert, they keep playing half songs!

Last but DEFINITELY not least, Plain Steel.. those guys are awesome! Good heavy metal, the vocalist is not bad, good drummer, guitarists and bassist! All in all they were amazing.. they moved the concert, everyone was head-banging, moshpitting...etc. I really think that Plain Steel have big potential!

Before the concert ended, we had to go to Jara because my friend was gonna sing there with a band called "Broken Bastards", and DAMN did she sing... they were awesome! Everyone enjoyed it!

Anyway, I have nothing more to say.. :D

Under Construction: The worst rock band in Jordan.

Well... I went to this event called "Classic and Old-School rock event" which was in Amoon theater, from 5 - 8 PM, organized by two guys, whose names I won't say, for a ticket price of 5 JDs.

The opening band was Plain Steal, who played heavy and thrashy metal, and they were awesome, eventhough they were under 18!! The played The number of the beast, enter sandman, and other stuff I can't really remember right now, anyway, they rocked the place, the interaction between the band members and the interaction with the wohle audience was amazing, the band members knew what they're doing... in a way.

Anyway, here I would like to concentrate on three things:
1) Plain Steal is an opening band.
2) Plain Steal band memebers were less than 18 years old.
3) They ROCKED the place, with about 5 - 7 FULL songs.

Now it's time for the "Under Construction" review...

First of all, the whole event was organized by a couple of members of the band.. well.. the sound system SUCKED! The speakers couldn't handle Metal/Rock, and the equalizers, well.. you could have managed them better... A CHILD COULD HAVE MANAGED THEM BETTER, but I'm not sure about that because the speakers SUCKED, so I can't really judge on that, maybe the whole thing was the speakers' fault.

Secondly, I don't know where to start, actually, should I start with how much the guitarist SUCKED, well, yeah, maybe I'll start here. The band members are good, I liked the Drummer, but his drumms failed him a couple of times, the basist, and the lead guitarist, but he did do a couple of mistakes, but he compensated them with a nice solo, as for the keyboardist, he wasn't really THAT good, and being a vocalist and a keyboardist, I DON'T THINK SO, his voice is not a vocalists' voice, it is more of a karaoke-singer's voice, after that came another vocalist, or was he the same one - I'm not sure - anyway, he sucked the same, if not even worse, I'm sorry, but that's the truth, his voice was just aaaaaaaaaaaaa!!

As for the rhythm guitarist.. DON'T GET ME STARTED!!! Come onnnnn, how the hell can he call himself a guitarist? He has no comprehension of the term "timing", he's like a person living in his own world, playing in his own band, and the problem is that he thinks he's a god, he can't stop talking about his playing...

Well, the question now is... why did I concentrate on the three points mentioned above?

Well, here's the answer... Under Construction said that they're gonna play for the following bands:
1- Scorpions
2- Pink Floyd
3- Axel Rudi Pell
4- Europe
5- Rainbow
6- Nirvana
7- Twisted Sister
8- Skid Row

Well.. let's do some calculations, the concert started with Plain Steal at about 5, and were done at about 6, so that's 6 songs/ hour, well.. that's good for an opening band with members' ages of 18 and less, on the other hand.. Under Construction had about two hours to play songs for 8 band, about 5 minutes per song (Plus or minus a minute or two), that's about 20 songs, with breaks and stuff, well.. let's say about 15 songs in 2 hours, good enough right? Well..THEY ONLY PLAYED THREE SONGS, THREE, and the guitarist played a solo or two with the drummer, like.. a jamming session.. other than that, they played NOTHING, they just sat, and some guys started going up on the stage, playng with the mics and the keyboards and drums, it was like a kindergarten, I swear, it was like a kindergarten's playground on recess!

The thing is, I DO regret paying 5 JDs for such an empty, boring and badly organized show, and I kind of knew that some of the Under Construction's members suck, because I went to their last gig, and believe me, it wasn't as bad as this one, but I still went:
1) To show my support for the scene, and because Under Construction's drummer is my friend.
2) I though I'd give Under Construction a chance
3) To hear Plain Steal since I missed their last show.

Anyway, I don't think I'll be giving "Under Construction" another chance, because their name really describes what they are, they ARE, in fact, still under construction, and they haven't even started with the building, yet, they're still digging down in the earth, and yes.. the DID hit ROCK BOTTOM.

Dali & I: The Surreal Story.

Dali & I is a movie about the famous Surreal artist, Salvador Dali, which is one of my favourit surreal artists of all time, in addition to Rene Magrite.

The Persistence of Memory by Salvador Dali

The Treachery of Images by Rene Magritte

The movie, which I can't wait for it to be released, talks about Dali's life from the 1960s until his death in 1989 that was taken from the novel "Dali & I" by Stan Lauryssens, a friend and neighbour of Dali, that was written upon his experience with him.

The movie, starring Al Pacino as Dali himself, is still in production and is expected to be launched in the year 2009.

On the other hand, there was an animation movie produced by Walt Disney in collaboration with Dali called "Destino", released in 2003, that I've been meaning to "get" for the past 6 months, a.k.a the first time I read about it, but, stuff happened, and I don't like Torrents that much!! Oops, Secret spilled!! :P Anyway, the movie was produced in late 1940s but, it wasn't released because the world had just gotten out of WWII, and due to other reasons! This animation movie takes you through Dali's paintings and artwork, and I'm expecting it to be one of the best movies I'm ever going to watch!

Talking about movies, there's this song that I can't seem to get it out of my head, it's Grease's "You're the one that I want" so.. ENJOY! :D

Well, first of all, I would like to send my condolences to Mr. Haitham Shawash's family, Moey's father, who passed away The day before yesterday, April 1st, may his sould rest in peace.

Secondly, I read about this Digital Tattoo Interface, where they implant a micro-electronic panel between the arm's skin and musscles, and tattoo the arm with a special ink, that's invisible when nothing is happening, but, for example, when you have a phone call, you press a small "button" on your arm that is part of the panel, and the tattoo appears, where it will looks like a mobile-phone interface, and get this, with video-calls! The device can connect to other devices via bluetooth.

Where does this device get it's power from?
Well.. the panel has two tubes that, during the process of putting the panel in the arm, get connected to a vein and an artery, where they take some blood, and with some magic and hocus pocus and stuff.. it's changed in power!! :D

Unfortunately, the device is still a concept, and I don't know when it's gonna be made for real, but when it comes out, I'm soooooo getting one!!! :D

Third subject on my mind today is FOOD, well.. I found out that I'm really in love with food, I mean, I enjoy it to the max, although I'm a fast eater, but food is a really important thing to me, not just to get energy and stuff, but it's something I enjoy doing, such as listening to music, watching TV and surfing the internet.. I came to the conclusion that food ROCKS, I love food, and I don't care that I'm fat, as long as I'm happy!! :D

Virgle, A colony on Mars.

Google announced today on the frontpage of the Google website, that they'll be launching a new project, in association with Virgin, called Virgle, as in:

The Virgle project, according to google, is "the first permanent human colony on Mars", becuase, "For thousands of years,the human race has spread out across the Earth, scaling mountains and plying the oceans, planting crops and building highways, raising skyscrapers and atmospheric CO2 levels, and observing, with tremendous and unflagging enthusiasm, the Biblical injunction to be fruitful and multiply across our world's every last nook, cranny and subdivision."

The project should be launched in the year 2014, with an estimate cost of 32 Trillion dollars, which, as I said before, is funded by Virgin founder Sir Richard Branson, and Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin.

So, Do you want to join in?

I stumbled upon this Awesome site called ! What it does, you ask? Well... It's a blogging engine, just like Wordpress or Blogger, but it has other post-specific features;

For example, if you want to post a Text post, You click on text, and You post just like you do in any other blogging system, but if you want to post, let say, a Photo, it send you to a page where you can Upload the picture, add captions and post a short description about the photo, Same goes for the Quote, Audio and Video, where you either upload the video from your computer or Embed it using a video-host!

The thing I liked is "Chat" where you can post a conversation you had with a friend of yours, and Tumblr will separate the lines just like mIRC or Messenger. (example)

The Link button makes you post a link to a page you liked, for example, and add a small description, which works just like Technorati and all those public indexing services

They also offer API, which is awesome, where you can use their engine on your own hosting server.

Anyway, as you can see, I really like this service, it's really easy to use, it has an amazing dashboard/ Control Panel, is fully costumizable using css and html, and RSS feed for your blog, that's why I'm going to start using it as my own online bookmarking/notes service! :D

One more thing, You can add as many RSS feeds as you want, and use it as an RSS feed aggregator.

Although I'm from Lebanon, and Easter was yesterday there, according to the Western Christian Calendar, but.. I FORGOT, SUE ME! :P

Facts about Easter (The ones I know of):

Easter is the day we celebrate Jesus' resurrection, three days after his crucifixion.
Easter doesn't come at the same date every year, it depends on stuff I don't know, anyway, it's usually between Late march and early May.
Easter is ALWAYS celebrated on a Sunday.
There are two dates for easter in a year, According to the Eastern and Western Christian Churches (Calendars), The eastern Churches celebrate Easter about half a month later than the Western Churches.
Easter is celebrated by colored boiled-eggs; An egg sybolizing a new life!
The Easter Bunny was invented by the western civilization, I have no Idea what it means.

Anyway, Happy Easter, and next time (on the Eastern Calendar, the calendar we follow here, in Jordan) I won't forget about it.

Anti-Long-hair Law in Jordan??

Here's what happened; My friend, a dude with long afro hair, was stopped a couple of days ago by policemen and was told that he has to cut his hair, according to a new law, or they'll give him a ticket, whatever that means! And I heard other stories where guys were stoped by policemen because they had unusual hair styles, and because they were wearing pants the wrong way (MSA7LINO)!

Is this true?? Is there really a law out there that controls how people should wear their hair, or how they wear their pants?? I mean, Ok, I don't like people who show their boxers, it IS UNDERwear, after all, but it IS, also, a personal freedom!

So, is there a law or not? AlGhad Newspaper, said "There is no such a law", it's just a rumor! But apparently, there are so many people that want this, where they say it's "against religion"! It's not! GROW UP! This is the people's right, they wear their hair however they want! HUMAN RIGHTS, PEOPLE!

Back to Blogging!

As anyone who read my last post knows, that I was in Lebanon, where I had no time to go online, becasue, well... Let's face it, I went on a vacation, so I sure as hell won't be spending my time there infront of a computer!! :P Anyway, I'm not saying that blogging is not fun, it's just that going to Lebanon makes me forget everything I used to do before going there!! In the past few days, I found out stuff that would change my whole life, but those are personal stuff, I also had the time of my life there, although I didn't do much, but it was great!

We went there to bring our car back that had been there for over 5 and a half months, because we had an accident there and my father decided that he was going to fix it there.

Anyway, when I was in Lebanon, I heard a lot of stories about the Lebanese war, the 33 days war and the Lebanese-Syrian war, and how people adapted with what was gong on around them.

Eveyone knows how much the Lebanese people love life and love having fun, one story I heard was about the last war, where my cousin told me that the whole war period, they stayed up all night, not because they were scared, but because in the day time, it was hot and there was nothing to do, but at night, they would play cards, and smoke Argileh! YES, because staying up was more fun, and they would listen to the bombs that were falling during the war, I heard stories even more obsurd where people would go to the beach to swim, while the Syrian military were bombing the ships!

Lebanese people whitnessed lots and lots of war, Civil wars, Wars with Syria, Israel and Palestinians, that's why they love life, because they're not sure what might happen next, so they live their life to the fullest, CARPE DIEM!

Today, I read this article about how Hollywood stopped releasing movies on tapes (VHS), and that from now only, they will only be releasing them on DVDs, so reading this made me think about how everything around us is changing, we're meeting new people, the older people, my Grandparents died, my uncle died, and everything is not the way it used to be, everything is just wrong, it's not going the way I want it to go!

As the Academy is coming to an end, the only thing I find myself thinking about most of the time is what to do when I'm done, where should I go, and what should I choose! Nothing is easy anymore, as you grow-up, life become more and more complicated, you find that you're loosing your loved ones, and you're even loosing yourself to time and to life itself.

This is not about VHS videos, it's about how sometimes, something as silly and old as a video tape, makes you take a look about your whole life, and how everything around you is moving, it makes you take a look at the bigger picture, and realize that nothing is the same anymore, and that it will never go back to the way it was.

You know, I miss the old days, where I had to rewind the tape manually, or when I used to build houses and fortresses with the tapes we had in our home, I miss the simple life, where everything around me is much more fun, where a person had to think and do, while now, you can find anything you want done and ready to use.

I know that this is depressing, but I really miss the old days, where everyone that I knew was alive, because, as I said before, this is not about a VHS, this is about how I feel and where I want to be, and why I feel this way!

I miss the old, I miss everything from the old days, and most of all I miss everyone that was in those days, who is not in the present ones!

Google announced, on their blog, the launch of their new, and free, Internet service that they called TiSP (the Teaspoon project), which provides a fiber optics internet connection, in the US and Canada.

All the connections and devices (Modem, router... etc.) would be sent for free, why, you ask? Well, my answer is, I don't know!!! It's just typical of Google o give out stuff for free!

Linux Vs. Mac

I never liked to read anyhing longer than a paragraph or two, bu today I found his amazing aricle about the Unix, Linux and MacOS vs. Windows security and viruses, and, as we all know, *nix is much more secure than Windows, and this article explains why.

My review about linux:

First of all I need to say that I'm using Ubuntu Linux 6.06 LTS "Dapper Drake" distro.

I used to read about A LOT about Linux and how great it is, and wen i got to use it, I found out that, eventhough I'm using one of the simplest and least complicated distros, it's even better than what I read, Linux makes you feel that you're taking full control of your computer, and the thing that I liked the best about it, is that Linux Is much faster than Windows in:
1) Booting and loading
2) Internet and downloading.

The only downside to Linux, if I can concider it a downside, is that it's really hard to use, some suff can't be run or done just by clicking, you'd have to use the Terminal and run a few commands, which, as you might have read in the article, makes Linux more secure!

The thing I hate, is that moost of the well-known Software corporations and companies don't make Linux programs as much as Windows compatible ones!! All I have to say for those companies is: GO TO HELL!! :D

If you want to try Linux, you can get either Ubuntu or Kubuntu (6.06 LTS "Dapper Drake") Linux distros shiped to you at no charge, Just go to the Ubuntu (Gnome Environment) , or The Kubuntu (KDE environment) Websites, and ask for one, and it will be sent to you in 10 weeks (THE MOST!), or you can download Ubuntu and other Linux distros for free from the internet!

Trying to draw myself!

I've been waiting for this movie for about a month or even longer, so yesterday, it finally came to Jordan, so me and my friends went to the cinema to watch it, and guess what... It SUCKED!!

The effects and animation are so POOR, everything seems so artificial, and the actors weren't natural AT ALL!! NOTHING WAS RIGHT!

aaaaaaaa, I can't stand it anymore, the movie what extremely the opposite of that, it was one of the greatest movies I have ever seen in my WHOLE FUCKIN' LIFE!!! The effects, OH MY GOD, they were truly spectacular! Everything is so REALLLLLL! I mean, I know that everything was 3D animation and stuff, like the mountains and and the beasts and everything, but you could've never guessed they were so!! Everything is so realistic! If you liked the animation of "Lord of the Rings", and kind of the story of "Troy" then you would deffinately love 300!!

The movie was so amazing that every time anything happens, like a man killing another or whatever, my friend would literally JUMP OUT OF HIS SEAT! and I would bang the seat infront of me!! :P Yeah, the movie is wounderful!!! WATCH IT!!

Lately, Environmentally-Friendly and Hybrid cars have been released into the market, and have been under a lot of research, whether they work on Hydrogen, Electricity or even AIR, yes, that's right AIR!!!

A French company called MDI (Moteur Developpment International) or Motor Deve International, has developed an engine that replaces common fuel, such as fossil-fuel, with alopment tank that contains compressed-air, and, conveniently, also works on fossil-fuel.

The engine itself is connected with a motor that:

compresses air
is the starting motor
is the alternator for recharging the battery
is an electric moderator/brake
is a temporary power supply (e.g. for parking)

The engine will not only be used in cars, it is planned that this technology will be used for other applications such as electrical-generators.

The car is, ironically, called "The Air Car", which has which has two main models:

The City-CAT which has different bodies for different uses such as: Van, Taxi, Pick-Up... etc.
Mini-Cat which is presented into two models: "belina" and "cabriolet".

The re-fueling of the cars are done in gas-stations (air-stations), which will take about 2-4 minutes, or, by an air-compressor in the car.

Just like other cars, this car needs engine lubrication, but because the car doesn't use a combustion-engine, the oil is a bit different, this car uses Vegetable Oil. The car also has exhaust gases, which is Air!!! But get this, the exhaust-gases' temperature is between 0 and (-15) degrees, which will be used for air-conditioning!

The Complete Web-hosting Guide for beginners

First of all I would like to thank the people who supported me during my lack-of-inspiration period, thank You!! %kiss%

Well.. Back to the subject, I've been having this dilemma lately about where to host my website, I read that (mt) media temple is the best hosting company there is, with their new grid-server technologies, but the problem that I faced was, they only had one plan, which has 100GB space and 1TB of Bandwidth, which is ALOT more than I could need, about 40X more, for 20$ a month, NOTHING compared to their services!!!

But then I found a web host called DTSnet, it has a great starter package with 1GB hard disk and Unmetered Bandwidth, 1 free domain registration, with pop email accounts and all the services you would ever need, mySQL, MSSQL, ASP, ASP.NET, Ruby-on-Rails, CPanel... EVERYTHING! in unlimited amounts... all that for less than $24/year!!! But thought that I could find better!

I used web-space searching engines and I found HostTone, and this host was amazing and extremely cheap! ONLY $19/year for their beginner hosting (2GB Disk, 20GB BW and a free domain)and $39 for their Basic plan (5GB DS 50GB BW and 1 domain) which all include Addon domains and Domain aliases, but if your going for their Basic plan, i would suggest using 1&1 Internet Inc.

1&1's Beginner hosting plan, offers 10GB of disk space, 300GB of bandwidth, 1 free domain, 600 email accounts and MANY other stuff, all that for about $36/year!

All these plans had everything I could want but, I wanted more, so... I turned to the free-hosting community and... I found one great free host called 110MB!!! This host is amazing, it offers 2GB space, 100GB bandwidth, PHP, mySQL, ASP and .net, cgi, perl, your own sub-domain, ADS-FREE, AND... YOU CAN USE YOUR OWN DOMAIN (which, if you look hard enough, you could get for FREE!)

The only downside to 110MB is that you have to send them a proof-of-ID, such as Driver's license or passport, AND a Bill that has your name on it, for them to turn safe mode OFF, and register_globals ON! **Update: 110MB made safe mode off but sendmail is still off too, you have o pay a small one-time fee to turn sendmail on! And they closed the registration, they open it at random times to minimize registrations, because it has one of the biggest free hosting companies, they need to decrease the registration rate!

Now, get ready for the BIGGEST surprise of your life, Microsoft is a offering a free hosting service called "Office Live Basics" in addition to paid services. Office Live Basics, offers 500MB free webspace, 10GB Bandwidth, 25 emails, and A Free Domain Registration, Yes, you read it right, FREE DOMAIN REGISTRATION! But, as you know, this is Microsoft, so it does have downsides, the first one is that by using Office Live Basics, you can't design your own page, you have to use one of their templates, the other thing is that, i think that this service i only offer for companies and corporations, and is not offered for individuals! That was so close!! :(

Anyway, by now, I have found the best of the hosting servers, well... that's what I thought but, I was surprised to find out that Google offers a new and, as usual, FREE service called Google Apps, althought I'm not sure that you can call it a hosting service, but, wGoogle Apps DOES provide a free page creator with your free space, unlimited Gmail accounts with your own domain-name.

Google apps can be used by companies, corporates, organizations, and even Schools and Colleges, where you can use Google Calendar to organize your meetings, trips, exams and class schedules.

Enough talking about web-space providers, now it's the domains' turn. and here are your choices:

1) Most paid hosts offer a free domain, and by using these, you don't get yourself into the whole DNS mess!
2) Get a free domain registration, but remember that all the free domain offers have strings attached! You either have to post a certain amount of posts in their forum, or you have to complete a few offers to get that domain name!
3) You can buy a domain name for as low as $5.99/year!
4) If you are using a free 110mb, they will offer you a free sub-domain, you.110mb.com.
5) You can get a completely free Uni.cc domain name, with no strings attached, where you have full DNS control (NS, A and MX records).

My Recommendations:

1) Free: Get a free website at 110MB or 5GBFree and deactivate the safe_mode by sending them your Proof-of-ID, get a free domain (ex. DomainLagoon) ,and use Google Aps for free Email hosting and all that.

2) Don't want to post in forums and want your own domain: you can register for a free host, and buy a domain!

3) If you want to pay for both the hosting and the domain:
a) A Small personal: HostTone's beginner's plan.
b) Small Website and community: Vexx Host's Personal Plan or HostMonster
c) Big Community or Corporate website: (mt) Media temple is the best for its redundancy and uptime (100%) or HostMonster

My recommendations about the site's contents:

1) If you want a blog, either use Blogspot or Wordpress because they're the best and the easiest to use.
2) If you want to have a community website, you can use a CMS (Content Management System) instead of designing and programing your own website such as Joomla, Drupal or Xoops, which will have blogs, photo galleries, forums, and lots and lots of plug-ins and add-ons!

I found this site today called "Mideast Youth", which is a network dedicated fighting extremist ideologies in the Middle East, through democracy, freedom of speech and the incorporation of the youth's opinions and thoughts, thereby, giving the young population of the middle east the chance to express how they feel through blogging their thoughts and opinion in a community, a community of people with the same interest.

Mideast Youth network also has other projects, such as the "Middle East Interfaith Blogger Network", which is a network that aims for better understanding the other religions, and "Darfur Awareness (We blog for Darfur)", a website that aims to raising awareness about Darfur, due to the lack of coverage by the media.

Which brings me to "Taking it Global", a site I've known for ages, an international organization, that serves the opportunity for young people to communicate and connect with different cultures, and who are interested in making a difference.

Taking it Global works with different international companies, organizations such as UN agencies, and other youth organizations.

Taking it Global works "to build the capacity of youth for development, artistic and media expression, make education more engaging, and involve young people in global decision-making.", in addition to some financial and professional opportunities, workshops and MUCH MORE!

Taking it Global members get a blog, a photo gallery, access to, forum, and most importantly... the chance for everyone to express how they feel about any of the world's issues.

A friend sent me the link for this video on Google Videos, The video is a documentary about the Lebanese war and the following of the current Leaders which, some off, where the "Leaders of the Lebanese war", it also talks about Syria. I really loved the video, it talks about what happened and how we, today, should deal with everything that is happening and everything that might happen. The video is about 14 minutes, so it might take a long time for it to load, but I recommend everyone to see it.

Ok, let's put it this way, I like what Hotmail offers (Best Messenger, at least in my opinion!) but, i hate the way it offers it!

Let's compare Hotmail to Gmail:

1) Hotmail: Static Html, CGI and Javascript
Gmail: AJAX or something... (Dynamic)

2) Hotmail: By using the static pages, the page-loading time is slow.
Gmail: The fastest I have ever seen.

3) Hotmail: Great messenger.
Gmail: Average, but it's getting there, and FAST! (Remember, Hotmail is older than Gmail)

4) Hotmail: Uses email folders.
Gmail: Uses tags. Sorry Google, but I like folders more than tags!

5) Hotmail: Too many advertisements (Top, Bottom-left, Right)
Gmail: Right-side only.

6) Gmail: XMLand Atom aggregator.
Hotmail: Non

7) Gmail: You can use your own registered domain for your email address, for FREE.
Hotmail: You can't, or you have to pay money! (I'm not sure)

8) Hotmail: 1GB of storage.
Google: Approximately 3GBs of storage, and counting...

9) Gmail: More user-friendly, ex. when you have no Spam in in your Spam folder, the sentence: "Hooray, no spam here!" is shown, this is so cool!
Hotmail: So blunt and dull!

10) Gmail is incorported with Google, therefor offering a lot of free services, (Gmail, Blogger, Earth... etc.) and application (Norton Anti Virus, Picasa, Google sketch-up... All included in the Google pack), while Microsoft offers SOME of the services that Google offers, but it doesn't deliver it in the same quality! And even though it is the most famous software company in the world, it DOESN'T offer any free software! I'm not saying that it should but, why doesn't it? That's why hackers call it micro$oft!

11) Google sponsors and hosts open-source projects that are either incorporated with its services and software, or that are independent, and it, also, asks people to help with its own projects (ex. Translation), this is what I call the power of open source! While Microsoft products are all CLOSED-SOURCE!

12) Google not only gives stuff for free, it also gives money. By signing-up to Google adsence, you can put some advertisements on your site or blog, and get paid per-click! Microsoft, NOTHING. It takes and doesn't give! ;)

What more do you want, if you want more then just tell me, and I'll give you as much as you want!

Don't think that I'm biased to Google (which I am) but, seriously... why shouldn't I? Why shouldn't we all? Free is the cheapest way for you, me and everyone to get what we want.

I'm not Goth, I just love every single thing about Gothic people; the way they dress, the music they listen to, the way they think, and I feel sad because they're always so full of pain! Anyway, I know that most people don't know what "Goth" really is. Some think they're satanists, others think they're witches and wizards, no one thinks of them as simply, human beings, living in pain! They're always outcasts, hated, and ridiculed! Most people who look at Gothic people or that pass by a Gothic person, get scared because they think that they'll hurt them! They WON'T! Goths are Christians, Muslims, Jewish, Wiccans, Hindus... WHATEVER!! Goth is not a religion, goth is a CULTURE! Goths are Humans!

Some might have heard about the Colorado massacre in 1999, where two "goth" students killed 16 people in Columbine high school in Colorado, you need to know that what they did has NOTHING to do with the Gothic culture, they were 2 students that acted alone! Sometimes I feel like... I just want to shout the word "LEBANON" at the top of my voice, and louder!
I always think why all the bad things happened and is happening to Lebanon.
I love my country, even though I was born Lebanese, and it wasn't my choice but, I thank God, every single time that I think about Lebanon, that I was born Lebanese, because, I can't imagine myself not being one!
As "mysterious eve" said in a post of hers " called "fi Beirut", "ببيروت، في شي هيك... عالق بالهوا، مطبوع عحيطان الزّواريب، عم بينقّط نقطة نقطة من وراق الشّجر بعد ما يخلص الشّتي بشوي.", Lebanon has this POWER where it could make you feel in love! In love with everything around you, in love with the sea, with the mountains, with the night, in love with the people, and even in love with yourself for being there, In Lebanon!!!!!
For me, Lebanon is my heaven, it's the place that I think of the most, because it's the place that hurts me the most! It hurt me because I am unable to be there every single second of every minute of every hour of every day, of every month of the year!
When I think about Lebanon, my heart starts pounding, and as I think more about Lebanon, every heart beat of mine turns into pain that I hold inside.
I just don't know what to say, because there is no word in this universe that can describe Lebanon, or all the unbelievably happy feelings that I have when I'm on my way to Lebanon, or the pain, anger, depression, suffering and grief when I'm going away from Lebanon.

One Million Masterpiece

I found this site called "The One Million Masterpiece" where you open an account and draw a small picture, which will be inserted into a bigger picture containing one million small thumbnails.

The website has a Web-based Flash applet where you draw your piece.

It's fun and it will be put in a lot of international and well-known art galleries, so... you'll become a published artist! ;)

when you finish your piece, a banner with your piece in it, will be generated, and you can link to your profile there via a generated html code that you can paste in your blog or website!

I found this great Lebanese (ehm ehm) site called ShooFiMaFi (Wussup in Lebanese) which contains a lot of interesting content, and the page that made me really love this site is "Speak Lebanese", which is an awesome page containing "Lebanese terminology", it has a list of Lebanese words and phrases translated to FIVE different languages (English, French, German, Swedish and Spanish).

In addition to the "Speak Lebanese" page, there are the "Lebanese Recipes" section, the "Lebanese Music" section, the "Pictures from Lebanon" section and other LEBANESE sections.

The website also has a great community and interaction sections, such as the Forum and "The Groups and Clubs" section, which gives you the opportunity to meet new people that you share the same interests with.

What I really like about this Portal is it's Charity and Volunteering work. ShooFiMaFi has an online shop, where the profits of the shop will go to Auxilia, a Non-profit Charitable Organization dedicated to the relief of orphans, widows, the physically challenged, and the elderly. ShoFiMaFi, also, hosts a project called "Sayabka Lubnan" (Lebanon will Prevail), which is a site established for "Lebanese expatriates to take action, and help their fellow Lebanese who were witnessing the war first-hand, in Lebanon.", says the website.

I do, and will, recommend this website to everyone I know, especially Lebanese, because it's really fun and it is definitely worth the while!

Boeing is preparing a new 1000-passenger airplane. The new Boeing 797 with it's Blended-Wing-Body (BWB) design, was designed in Cooperation with NASA. The new airplane is a response to Airbus's A380 which can carry up to 555 passengers (in three-class configuration), and up to 853 passengers in a full economy configuration.

The 797, with a 265ft wingspan, has a 3ft longer wingspan than the A380, which has a wingspan of 262ft. The 797's BWB design has several big advantages, such as the lift-to-drag ratio, which will have a 50% increase over the A380, combined with the 25% less overall weight than the A380, the 797 is expected to have about 33% efficiency over the Airbus's A380. The BWB shape also decreases the stress on the air frame, and reduces turbulence, therefor increasing the body rigidity and efficiency.

The 797 has a 8800 nautical-mile flight range (about 16,300 KM), at the speed of 0.88 mach (654 miles) cruising speed.

I was wandering aimlessly through some of the blogs on the web, I noticed that some of them have some really nice designs, such as graphics, templates, add-ons..etc. but some of them lack content! The blog has no meaning, talking about stupid stuff!

And the worst blogs I found, are the blogs that don't have even one single post in them, NOT ONE!!! (take a look at this one) They just occupy the name so no one else can take it! I say if you don't use it, you loose it! Take them away from the blog owner! Send him/her a notification, and if they don't post anything in a certain amount of time then let them kiss their blog goodbye!

Blogs are a fun thing to maintain. Blogs give you the space to express and to share!

In a survey, comScore Networks inc., a leading statistics company, announced that Yahoo was ranked as the website most visited by unique visitors with 129,932 visitors out of the 173,686 users included in the survey, while Time Warner Network (including AOL, HBO, Warner Bros.) was ranked second with 119,684 unique visitors, Microsoft sites (119,684) in the third place, and Google (116,979) came in the fourth.

On the other hand, in a non-competitive alliance, BELIEVE IT OR NOT, Google, Yahoo & Microsoft have joined hands to make a new site, that will help webmasters and website owners in listing their websites in search engines, via "XML sitemaps", that was called, OBVIOUSLY, Sitemaps.org.

A sitemap is, according to Sitmaps.org's definition, "an XML file that lists URLs for a site along with additional meta-data about each URL (when it was last updated, how often it usually changes, and how important it is, relative to other URLs in the site) so that search engines can more intelligently crawl the site". The website contains detailed information, and step by step instructions, about making your website's sitemap. It also has definitions of the tags used in the XML document.

Submitting your site's map to a search engine, or simply by uploading it to your website, makes it easier, and more efficient, for a "crawler", to pickup and learn about the URLs in the sitemap. Although this doesn't guarantee that the website will be submitted to the search engine, but it does help the crawler to do it's job.

AOL has published a new article on what it ranked as the "50 worst things ever to happen to music". There are many things that I understood, for example, #47: Slash quitting the band "Guns 'n Roses", and stuff that I didn't such as number #38:STING!! Why sting? Sting is a great singer, A great voice with great lyrics! What about #22: "Lists that reduce rock to a series of lists"... WTF?? These Pop Geeks, don't know nothing about rock, rock sub-genres, such as; Alternative Rock, British Rock, Rock 'n Roll, Christian Rock..etc. have so many differences between them! What I'd like to tell them is Go @#$% YOURSELVES! Anyway, most of the list entries (if not all) are just for making fun of people, and even God (Worst thing #07!!!) Go To Hell AOL! It even Rhymes!

Lebanese people always say: "no matter what happens to Lebanon, we can put it up on its feet again, and like it first started!", that kind of thing makes you proud, but as you come to think of it, you find that it is a really wrong. Why are Lebanese people so pessimistic, why don't they think positively, like, "we don't want anything to happen to Lebanon, we want to make Lebanon better instead of always rebuilding it!" The Lebanese situation is so stressed right now that everyone is in fear of a new civil war, why should everything that has been built go to waste, and be destroyed? Why don't the leaders of the Lebanese movements and parties negotiate? Lebanon doesn't need more wars, it's already gotten its share of wars and destruction, the Lebanese people, now, have the right to live in peace & harmony.

All the events that happened this year, starting with the Lebanese Israeli war, which began after hezbollah had kidnapped Israeli soldiers, to the assassination of the Lebanese minister Pierre Gemayel on November 21st, in the Jdeideh suburb in Lebanon, where there is evidece that Syria might have been an accomplice in killing him (acording to the Kuwaiti Newspaper "Alseyassah"), ending with the recent "March 8th alliance" (a pro-Syrian alliance) calling for a demonstration, which began in protest against Siniora’s refusal to increase the representation of Shiite-based parties in the 24-member cabinet or call new parliamentary elections, in the Martyrs' square and Riyad Al-Soloh square, in addition to all the threats everyone is making, like the last one from Suleiman Franjieh; that things will get worse than it already is, after the holidays, has had quite an impact on the Lebanese people's sense of peace, and comfort in their own country not to mention their own homes.

Lebanon's tourism industry also sufferd, as the fear of a civil war increases, and due to the closing of shops, night clubs, bars, coffee shops and pubs in downtown Beirut because of the March 8th alliance's demonstration.

The Lebanese people and political leaders must find some kind of a resolution for this situation for it not to become more serious, settlements must be made from both parties. There must be no losers, everyone must be winners, for we are all Lebanese.

I usually like Christmas, but this year, I fucking hate it, everything is going wrong!! My father is going back to PNG on the 24th of Dec, a few hours before Christmas, Secondly, I can't go to Lebanon, because of all the crap that's going on there, therefor I'm gonna stay in Jordan, and have the most boring Christmas a person can ever have! Just sitting at home, doing nothing, sometimes going out with my friends, nothing special, nothing that makes you feel that you're in a special, joyful, loving, & interesting season!! Explosives found with SSNP members

Beirut - Lebanese police found and confiscated large quantities of explosives, detonators and timers in houses owned by members of a pro-Syrian group in north Lebanon on Thursday, security sources said.

They said police had also moved to encircle some offices of the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP) in Beirut after making some arrests in the northern Koura province.

A police statement confirmed the seizure and arrests but did not say to which group the detainees and the explosives belonged.

"A force from the Internal Security Force raided these houses and found inside them a large quantity of explosives, electrical detonators and timers in addition to a large cache of weapons," the statement said.

Officials from the group did not immediately comment but its leader Ali Qansou was scheduled to give a news conference later on Thursday.

Lebanon has been shaken by 16 major explosions, assassinations and attempted assassinations targeting anti-Syrian figures over the past two years.

A U.N. team is probing all those attacks, the most devastating of which was a lorry bombing that killed former Prime Minister Rafik al-Hariri.

An anti-Syrian Christian cabinet minister, Pierre Gemayel, was shot dead by gunmen near Beirut last month.
Five members of SSNP arrested
Police sources on Thursday reported that it has arrested five members of the Syrian Social National Party (SSNP) in the northern province of Koura.
One source also said the SSNP office in the Lebanese capital's plush Ras Beirut district was surrounded by police, while members of the Syrian-backed party evacuated another office in the city.

He said the bust was aimed at arresting "suspects in the ongoing investigations in a series of assassination attempts." He refused to elaborate.

It could not be determined if the bust and arrests were related to the Nov. 21 assassination of Industry Minister and member of parliament Pierre Gemayel in Beirut's northern suburb of Metn, an SSNP traditional stronghold.

SSNP has history of violence

The Syrian Social Nationalist Party (abbreviated SSNP), often referred to in French as Parti Populaire Syrien) is a nationalist political party in Syria and Lebanon. It advocates the establishment of a Greater Syrian national state, including present Syria, Lebanon ,Israel, the Palestinian territories, Cyprus, Jordan & Iraq . Founded in Beirut in 1932, the party has played a significant role in Lebanese politics at various points, notably being involved in failed attempted coups in 1949 and 1961. It is now part of the pro-Syrian bloc, along with Amal and Hezbollah, and has only limited popular support in Lebanon. In Syria, the SSNP became a major political force in the early 1950s, but was thoroughly repressed in 1955. It remained organized, and in 2005 was legalized and joined the Baath Party-led National Progressive Front. It is thought to be the largest legal party in Syria apart from the Baath, with perhaps 90,000 members

Seriously, how do these people consider themselves Lebanese, I mean, the found EXPLOSIVES, TRIGGERS, TIMERS, not a couple of guns, rifles, or whatever.

The first question that comes to mind after is, what were they REALLY planning on doing with all these explosives! Lebanon is in a really tense situation right now, and it doesn't need any more tension.

If they weren't caught God knows what they might have done with these weapon, and no one know where that might have lead!

As you noticed through my blog, I'm with the March 14th Alliance, but that's not the only reason for me to like Gebran, Gebran was one of the most honest politicians in Lebanon, he loved Lebanon and Lebanese because Lebanon was his country, and the Lebanese people were his brothers, and sisters.

So many people mourned his death, even people from different sect.s, different parties, or alliances.

12th of Dec. 2005, at the age of 48, Gebran's car was bombed, and on the 12th of Dec. 2006, was the one-year anniversary of Gebran's death, so I made a small video clip, that has a few of his pictures and some photos from his Funeral.

Gebran Tueini was a person who really loved Lebanon and the Lebanese people, and cared for it’s interests and progress, and that’s why he was killed, killed by the people who hate Lebanon the most, a country that was know as Lebanon’s sister “Alshakiaka”! Bachir Gemayel, was a Lebanese president & one of the greatest Lebanese Christians-Leaders, he was killed, like every Lebanese politician, by Syria, because the knew that if he stayed, Lebanon would become better and greater, a thing Syria doesn't want, because it wanted Lebanon to stay under its authority.
